NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Snow Park Capital Partners L.P. (“Snow Park”), a leading investment management firm focused on publicly-traded real estate securities, today announced that Rachel Ward, the firm’s Manager of Investor Relations and Marketing, raised nearly $54,000 to date for Team Meg, a charity which supports cancer survivorship research for The Meg Berté Owen Survivorship Fund.
Meg Berté was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma when she was 23 years old. She was treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City with an aggressive regimen that was ultimately successful, but had many long-term side effects. While her lymphoma had remained in remission for twelve years, the side effects of her treatment caused her finally to succumb to a lung infection. In 2009, Meg's lungs could no longer continue the fight.
Team Meg fundraises for The Meg Berté Owen Survivorship Fund, which honors Meg's life by supporting cancer survivorship research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. The Fund was founded in 2009 and to date has raised nearly $2,500,000.
“Team Meg has held a close place in my heart since we launched the charity nearly 10 years ago. We have been actively fundraising to fight for cancer survivorship research and help others in their battle against this terrible disease,” said Rachel Ward. “I’ve run 3 half marathons and recently ran my first marathon with Team Meg. Our Team collectively raised over $360,000 for the TCS NYC Marathon in 2018 – we run for survivorship to help all those young adults who have survived cancer and are still fighting.”
The funds are used to conduct pilot studies, which increases Team Meg’s ability to compete for larger funds from the government, which work with collected preliminary data to conduct robust studies focused on reducing long-term complications that patients like Meg face.
