Life Image and Dicom Systems Partner to Advance Healthcare Interoperability

Life Image Network with Advanced Data Sharing and Dicom Systems’ Internal Integration Expertise Combine to Automate Interoperability Within and Among Organizations Across the Healthcare Ecosystem

NEWTON, Mass.--()--Life Image, the world's largest global network for sharing clinical and imaging data, and Dicom Systems, Inc., a leader in enterprise imaging interoperability and workflows, today announced a strategic partnership to streamline clinical content access within and across provider organizations and health systems. Both companies already share a number of hospital customers and are Google Cloud Partners who are enabling novel capabilities in healthcare.

This collaboration will accelerate interoperability by combining the two companies’ large networks and integration capabilities, helping organizations to improve care, reduce costs, and drive new levels of workflow efficiency. The partnership will deliver a powerful combination of intra- and inter-system interoperability from Dicom Systems’ Enterprise Imaging Unifier Platform which ensures data compatibility among existing information systems (i.e. RIS. HIS, PACS, etc.), and Life Image’s global data-sharing network which facilitates the exchange of medical images, diagnostic reports, and other clinical data across provider sites, organizations, and networks.

As part of the agreement, Life Image will offer Unifer as part of the Life Image Interoperability Suite to its growing network of academic medical centers and other leading hospitals across the country. In this new engagement, Dicom Systems and Life Image will apply their combined deep interoperability expertise to meet the industry’s growing demand for a comprehensive network that facilitates accessing, sharing, and storing all clinical data across a patient’s journey.

“Dicom Systems and Life Image share a longstanding commitment to achieving seamless interoperability in an industry plagued by technical and institutional barriers to the free flow of compatible data,” said Dmitriy Tochilnik, President and CTO, Dicom Systems. “Together with Life Image, we will be able to address internal and external compatibility within a single healthcare organization, and fast, accurate, and secure information-sharing across organizations. This allows deeper and wider connections throughout the ecosystem to accelerate the development of the broadest network for medical information access.”

“With this pivotal alignment between our companies, we’re delivering on a longstanding promise to our customers to unify image sharing in healthcare,” said Florent Saint-Clair, Executive VP, Dicom Systems. “Thanks to our consistent commitment to standards-based exchanges, image sharing is about to become as easy and seamless as placing a cell phone call between mobile telecom providers.”

Life Image’s Interoperability Suite, which integrates into existing workflows, orchestrates the flow of more than 10 million clinical encounters per month, connecting 1,500 U.S. facilities, 8,000 affiliated sites, 150,000 U.S. providers, and 58,000 global clinics with a broader ecosystem of patients, life sciences, medical device companies, and telehealth companies.

“Life Image has spent the past decade growing its global network and mastering standards-based interoperability. That experience has given us some unique insights for facilitating clinical collaboration across health systems,” said Matthew A. Michela, President and CEO, Life Image. “Partnering with Dicom Systems significantly expands our ability to meet the needs of healthcare organizations seeking to collaborate efficiently, especially under new value-based care models. With Dicom Systems, we expect to significantly expand the reach of our global network, and make comprehensive data interoperability a reality for healthcare systems across the U.S. and around the world.”

Life Image and Dicom Systems will be attending the 2018 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting, scheduled for Nov. 25-30 in Chicago, Illinois.
