Sparton DLS Appraised at CMMI-Maturity Level 3

DELEON SPRINGS, Fla.--()--Sparton Corporation (NYSE:SPA) announced that its DeLeon Springs, FL Design and Development Group has been successfully appraised at CMMI-Maturity Level 3 (Dev v1.3). The appraisal was performed by AgileDigm of Ormond Beach, FL.

Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a capability improvement framework that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. CMMI is comprised of a collection of best practices designed to promote improved performance and is considered a global standard for efficiency.

An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 indicates Sparton DLS is performing at a level where processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. Sparton’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for Maturity Level 3, is established and has improved over time.

Sparton DeLeon Springs, LLC, a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of sonobuoy systems for the U.S. Navy, is at the forefront of technologies that align with the Defense Department’s Undersea and Ground Warfare Technology roadmaps. Sparton’s nearly 200,000 sq. ft. DeLeon Springs facility is uniquely qualified to handle projects for the Defense Department and prime contractors in the design and manufacturing of engineered products.

“A CMMI appraisal is the global standard for design efficiency,” said Jim Lackemacher, Group Vice President of the Engineered Components and Products Segment. “This appraisal reflects our commitment to continuous improvement in an environment where an increasing number of government contracts require successful CMMI appraisals to participate.”
