Aetna Medicare HMO Plans in Florida Awarded High-Quality Rating

Aetna Medicare HMO contract awarded 4.5 stars (out of 5) by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

HARTFORD, Conn.--()--Aetna’s (NYSE: AET) Florida Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) HMO plan has been awarded 4.5 stars by CMS for the 2019 Star Ratings.

CMS uses a five-star rating system to help Medicare beneficiaries and their families compare Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans. The Star Ratings measure plans on various dimensions of performance and quality.

“Our strong Star Ratings demonstrate our commitment to provide value and access to quality care for Medicare beneficiaries across Florida,” said Richard Weiss, market president of Aetna’s Florida business. “We are focused on taking the complexity out of health care and working closely with doctors to enhance care coordination and patient satisfaction. Our Medicare plans are created with an emphasis on the member experience and helping beneficiaries get the most out of their benefits.”

Medicare Advantage plans are rated on how well they perform in five different categories: staying healthy, managing chronic (long-term) conditions, member experience with the health plan, member complaints, and health plan customer service. Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug plans are also rated on how well they perform in four additional categories: drug plan customer service, member complaints, member experience with drug plan and drug safety.

Aetna Medicare offers this highly rated HMO plan in the following Florida counties: Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Duval, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Saint Johns, Saint Lucie, Sarasota, Seminole and Sumter.
