LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Health Net of California, Inc., a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has earned four of five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in their annual Star Ratings report. The report includes dozens of quality-of-care measures and member experience ratings for Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan enrollees. CMS elevated the company’s rating for the 2019 plan year from 3.5 to 4.0 stars for the Health Net Medicare Advantage plan for California.

Health Net serves more than 3.1 million members in its commercial and government-sponsored health plans. The company has improved health and wellness outcomes for its members through a wide variety of new and ongoing initiatives, including:
- Overcoming barriers to access by identifying at-risk members and proactively offering them assistance with finding providers, arranging home visits, and scheduling transportation to and from doctor appointments.
- Pharmacists calling members and reminding them to take their medicine as scheduled.
- Sending members a pocket calendar for doctor appointments that also includes health education tips and reminders to schedule cancer screenings and flu vaccinations.
Each year, CMS reviews the measures it analyzes and updates its Star Ratings each fall for the following plan year. Medicare uses information from member satisfaction surveys, plans, and health care providers to give overall performance star ratings to plans.
