BOULDER, Colo.--()--Sphero, the technology company utilizing play as a powerful teacher, today announces the opening of its second-annual Sphero Heroes search. Sphero Heroes is an ambassador program designed to recognize and celebrate the work of pioneer teachers, educators and leaders around the world. Building on the successes from the inaugural year, from now until December 31, Sphero will be seeking passionate and dedicated educators active in their community who are using innovative practices to transform teaching and learning in their classrooms and beyond.

The 2019 Sphero Heroes cohort will be an integral part of Sphero’s educational arm, Sphero Edu. Throughout the year, they’ll have the ability to come together to discuss innovation, robotics, programming and new teaching concepts to provide inspiration and growth in their classrooms. Additionally, the cohort will have many opportunities to collaborate with Sphero Edu at regional educational conferences, professional development, product development, STEAM curriculum development, content creation and more. Educators can visit www.sphero.com/heroes to submit their application.

“Our inaugural 17 Heroes are global, innovative, talented and have inspired our company mission with their unique backgrounds and experiences,” says David Millage, vice president of education at Sphero. “Sphero Edu continues to push the envelope to provide access to STEAM learning. We aim to give kids an educational journey that embraces the world around them, while having fun with our robots. Coding is a global language, and this ambassador programs allows us to connect and foster growth in all regions; we want more Heroes from around the world to join our current Heroes from Iceland, New Zealand, the UK, and more.

Since 2014, Sphero’s products have been at the forefront of STEAM education in the classroom, used by more than 30,000 schools, 42,000 teachers and 1.6 million students worldwide. Earlier this year, Sphero launched its most-advanced robot to-date, Sphero BOLT. Building upon the company’s suite of products rooted in a commitment to education, Sphero BOLT’s capabilities empower users to dive deeper into the world of STEAM learning. In addition to the robot itself, Sphero BOLT is accompanied by the Sphero Edu app. The app provides educators, parents, and kids alike with an ecosystem to share curriculum, projects, and learnings with ease, furthering Sphero’s mission to educate consumers through the act of play.
