Anthem’s commitment to high-quality healthcare services drives high ratings from CMS

ST. LOUIS--()--Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri (Anthem) today announced that the company’s 2019 Medicare Advantage HMO plans are rated 4.0 Stars and its PPO plans are rated 4.5 Stars by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), with five stars being the best rating. These plans will be available in many counties throughout Missouri next year. CMS’ Medicare Star Ratings gives health plans scores for the quality and performance of their services.

“These Star Ratings results recognize the innovative products and services consumers can expect from Anthem’s Medicare Advantage health plans,” said David McNichols, President of Anthem’s Central Medicare Region. “We understand the dynamic needs of the Medicare-eligible population, and as such, the Company will continue to develop solutions that will make it simpler for consumers to improve their health and well-being. In addition, we have been fortunate to collaborate with care providers in our network who play an important role in helping us deliver an enhanced healthcare experience for individuals enrolled in our health plans.”

  • Help members stay healthy
  • Assist members in managing chronic conditions

  • Achieve member satisfaction
  • Provide effective customer service

Additionally, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans that provide drug services are rated on how well they provide prescription-related coverage along a number of factors: customer service, member complaints, member experience with drug plan, and drug safety.

Star Ratings are calculated each year using a scale of one to five stars, and may change from year to year. The annual Medicare Star Ratings are posted online at www.medicare.gov.
