MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DNAnexus Inc. announced today it has been granted an Authority to Operate (ATO) under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) for the management and analysis of biomedical data on its cloud-based platform. This authorization enables Federal agencies to rapidly and securely integrate cloud-based biomedical informatics into their research and services, in compliance with NIST 800-53r4, OMB A-130, FIPS-199 and FIPS-200 Federal Information Processing standards for handling Moderate level data. Precision.FDA.gov leverages DNAnexus to deliver its online, cloud-based, virtual research space where members collaborate to advance next-generation sequencing regulatory standards.
FedRAMP is a US government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. Being FedRAMP-compliant means a cloud computing system has established and documented a highly-secure environment that has withstood comprehensive, rigorous review, before Federal agencies, or projects that are federally funded, are authorized to engage with the cloud computing system. Authorized cloud service providers are listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace.
Non-Federal customers benefit from the assurance of an independently certified compliance with NIST 800-53r4 and other security standards. The DNAnexus Platform is the only industry or Federal cloud-based platform for biomedical informatics and data management granted authorization under FedRAMP sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). DNAnexus customers can leverage the FedRAMP documentation to provide assurance for their own audits.
“Given the rigorous requirements to achieve this level of compliance, both Federal and non-Federal customers can confidently choose the DNAnexus Platform for their biomedical data management and analysis needs,” said Richard Daly, Chief Executive Officer at DNAnexus. “The DNAnexus Platform offers a secure, scalable solution where agencies can integrate multi-omics and clinical data, enable collaboration, and accelerate discovery.”
DNAnexus, with its broad network of Federal, academic, and commercial partners, provides secure and compliant cloud-based biomedical informatics services, and the scientific support to solve today’s challenges faster and more effectively than ever before. DNAnexus will be hosting a webinar, Wednesday, November 7th at 10:00 AM (PST) highlighting the rigorous requirements involved in order to achieve FedRAMP Moderate status and how Federal and non-Federal customers can leverage the DNAnexus Platform for their biomedical data analysis needs.
