NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Timescale, the company behind the first open-source time-series database powered by PostgreSQL, announces a first-class integration with Grafana Labs for time-series data exploration and visualization. The new PostgreSQL query editor and datasource are contributions made by TimescaleDB engineers to the open-source Grafana community.
Included within the recent release of Grafana v5.3, the PostgreSQL query editor makes it easier for users to explore time-series data by improving the discoverability of data stored in PostgreSQL. By combining the usability of the query editor with the power of full SQL, users can generate dynamic dashboards and visualizations in Grafana which translate across entire organizations.
PostgreSQL query editor key features:
- Combine SQL with the query editor to form complex queries
- Identify trends utilizing aggregate functions
- Use window functions to apply calculations over windows of time
- Leverage TimescaleDB’s built-in functions
- Fill in gaps in data with the gap filling functionality
- Share configurable dashboards across the organization
Ajay Kulkarni, Co-Founder & CEO, Timescale
“As businesses across the globe continue to install TimescaleDB and deploy it into production, we recognize the importance of making time-series data exploration accessible to everyone. Grafana’s monitoring dashboards do an excellent job of allowing users to visualize all the time-series data they are collecting, which will become increasingly important since fundamentally, we believe all data is time-series.”
Torkel Ödegaard, Co-Founder & CGO, Grafana Labs, Grafana Architect and Project Lead
“At Grafana, our mission is to create open-source metric visualization tools that are accessible and easy to use across the entire organization. We recognize the way users analyze their data is changing, and we are developing our product to change with it. Timescale is a natural partner for us since they understand the importance of time-series and metrics data, and share our same commitment to growing the vibrant open-source community.”
TimescaleDB is fully compatible with the PostgreSQL ecosystem which includes Tableau, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Prometheus, Zabbix and other support. To get started, download TimescaleDB directly from the installation guide. For deployment assistance and production-level SLAs, TimescaleDB enterprise support is available.
TimescaleDB, developed by the engineers at Timescale, is the first open-source time-series database to scale for fast ingest and complex queries while natively supporting full SQL. Because time is a critical dimension along which data is measured, TimescaleDB enables developers and organizations to harness more of its power to analyze the past, understand the present, and predict the future. TimescaleDB is deployed in production all around the world in a variety of industries including Telecom, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Manufacturing, Logistics, Retail, Media & Entertainment, and more. Based in New York and Stockholm, TimescaleDB is backed by Benchmark Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Two Sigma Ventures, and other leading investors.
