WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and CENTAR Limited, the mining and exploration investment company, invites media to attend a press conference on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, following the signing of contracts to develop two sites with potentially significant copper and gold deposits. Together, these contracts represent the largest mining exploration effort in the history of Afghanistan.
Within the first year of operation, the projects could be among the largest private sector employers and largest taxpayers in the country. If exploration results reveal feasible large-scale mining projects, they hold the potential of generating a combined economic impact in excess of $1 billion and creating nearly 13,000 jobs, most of which would be filled by training and employing Afghan workers.
