Vizient Announces Participants for the 2018 Innovation Challenge

IRVING, Texas--()--Vizient today announced the participants for the sixth annual Innovation Challenge, an event designed to highlight the best new ideas in healthcare today. The Innovation Challenge will be held on Oct. 3 at 3:45 p.m. as part of the opening general session for the 2018 Vizient Connections Summit to be held at The Wynn in Las Vegas.

The Innovation Challenge is an interactive pitch competition that offers a unique opportunity for health care startup companies who are revenue producing and have market traction but still in the early growth stages of their business. This year’s competition will feature finalists in virtual care/remote monitoring and care coordination and communication domains. The participants in the respective domains are:

Virtual Care/Remote Monitoring

  • VitalConnect: Their Vital SolutionTM biosensor provides continuous patient monitoring, anytime anywhere - enabled by VitalPatch®, a state-of-the-art wireless, wearable biosensor monitoring eight physiological measurements continuously, in real time. They are all connected through user-friendly web connected interfaces and the cloud.
  • Moving Analytics: Movn is a digital cardiac rehab and secondary prevention program for cardiovascular disease. Designed specifically for low to moderate risk patients with CAD or CHF and comorbidities like diabetes and COPD, at one-fourth the cost of current care while three times higher in participation of current care.

Care Coordination/Communication

  • PreparedHealth: enTouch keeps a patient's entire health care team in touch in real-time, making it easier for providers to connect and collaborate. With the enTouch Network, everyone stays connected via HIPAA-compliant communication, receiving care updates as they happen, with automated alerts and artificial intelligence flagging opportunities for intervention and improving the odds a patient’s in-home care will be a success.
  • CoHealth (formerly ScoutMD): CoHealth is a personal health manager delivered to patients at the point of care. Health care organizations create custom aftercare content, digitize the discharge process and improve the ability of patients to take care of themselves through ScoutMD.

The competition will include two contestants each going head-to-head in the virtual care/remote monitoring and care coordination/communication domains. Each contestant will deliver an eight-minute product pitch then participate in a five-minute question and answer session from an expert panel that includes two CEOs from Vizient member hospitals, an investor and Vizient’s President and CEO Byron Jobe. A live audience, made up of roughly 2,000 health care professionals attending the 2018 Vizient Fall Connections Summit, vote for their favorite innovation during the head-to-head portion of the competition in each of the domains. The overall winner will be selected by a second live audience poll based on their response to an audience question.

“We are excited about the companies competing in this year’s Innovation Challenge. This competition is an entertaining and interactive way to bring some of the newest and smartest technology to our members and to also raise awareness of these companies who are working on solutions that help improve patient care,” said Bharat Sundaram, president, analytics and advisory services for Vizient.
