The D3500 is an ideal step up for photographers looking to upgrade from a compact or even a smartphone because it provides a Guide Mode and smart auto results to introduce shooters to various settings and controls in a clear manner. It is also a great choice for travel and vacation—it weighs just 12.9 oz, measures 4.9 x 3.9 x 2.8", and has a rated CIPA battery life of 1,550 shots per charge.

You can purchase the D3500 with the 18-55mm VR Lens or in a two-lens kit that adds a 70-300mm lens.
