WAKEFIELD, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ChartWise Medical Systems, Inc., an award-winning industry leader in web-based, computer-assisted Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) solutions, announces Steven Mason will now serve as both president and Chief Executive Officer with company founder Jon Elion, M.D., continuing as Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer.
Mason’s expanded role signals the company’s turn toward a more aggressive approach for increasing its market leader position with the creation of new outpatient and payer-focused CDI solutions for health systems and provider-funded health plans and ACOs.
“Steven has rightly assumed the role of both president and CEO,” says Jon Elion, M.D. “With his proven healthcare technology leadership experience, we’re confident that Steven will continue to grow our position in the market with new CDI solutions that best meet the evolving needs of our customers and healthcare organizations nationwide.” Elion recruited Mason to join ChartWise as President in the latter part of 2017, and subsequently sponsored the Board motion to appoint him as CEO.
For his part, Elion, a practicing cardiologist and successful healthcare technology entrepreneur, remains laser-focused on assuring ChartWise solutions have resonance and value for clinicians, clinical documentation professionals and revenue cycle managers. A primary area of focus for the new ChartWise leadership will be leveraging its current solutions to further improve the payment accuracy, care management, quality reporting and risk adjusted scoring for the entire healthcare enterprise. ChartWise recently made other leadership team moves. Industry veteran Amanda Duke was named Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Paul LaBelle was promoted to Vice President of Engineering, and Mary Cooper has assumed the title of Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer.
The evolution of the executive team coincides with the company being named a Category Leader in the Clinical Documentation Improvement Software segment in the 2018 Best in KLAS: Software and Services report for the third consecutive year and a clear intent on broadening its reach to outpatient care and fee-for-value reimbursement and care models.
“Risk adjustment is quickly becoming an essential component of patient care and the importance of consistent, accurate and complete documentation for providers and payers cannot be overemphasized as a core competency. Our intelligent documentation and analytical solutions are the bridge that connect and drive success between the clinical and financial aspects of the care delivery system and the revenue cycle,” says Mason. “We are excited about expanding our award-winning solutions to provide seamless clinical documentation, accurate risk adjustment and reimbursement across the entire continuum of care.”
