AppLovin Launches Lion Studios to Fuel Growth of Mobile Development Ecosystem

Company Will Also Award $300K in Prizes in the Ultimate Game Changers Contest for App Developers

SAN FRANCISCO--()--AppLovin, a comprehensive platform where app developers can connect with their consumers and get discovered, today announced the launch of Lion Studios, a media division of AppLovin that works with mobile developers to publish and promote their apps. To celebrate the launch, AppLovin also announced a contest in which the company will award $300K in prizes for the four best mobile gaming apps submitted.

Lion Studios furthers AppLovin’s mission by fueling growth of the independent app developer ecosystem. The new division of AppLovin is led by Rafael Vivas, President of Lion Studios, and Kyler Murlas, Head of Operations for Lion Studios, and provides resources to developers around the world by empowering them to publish their apps and helping those apps get discovered via cost-effective user acquisition.

Since its pre-launch phase starting in only March 2018, Lion Studios has already driven hundreds of millions app downloads and helped drive four #1 overall free apps in the App Store, 13 that ranked in the top 10 overall, and 16 that ranked in the top 20. Some of these titles include smash hit puzzle games Love Balls and Weave the Line, hyper-casual game Draw In, and money-clicker game Cash, Inc. (recent recipient of Google’s Android Excellence Award 2018).

“AppLovin is a growth engine for all app developers, and that approach inherently fuels the mobile development ecosystem,” said Rafael Vivas, President of Lion Studios. “Lion Studios is an extension of this, and it goes one step further by helping developers publish and promote their apps, empowering great talent to have access to many of the same resources as larger companies.”

“In less than three months, our app has been downloaded over 100 million times and shot to the top of the iOS charts in 63 countries,” said Ling Yun from SuperTapX, developer of the title Love Balls. “Designing and publishing a viral app is what developers like us dream about and work sleepless nights for, and through Lion Studios, AppLovin has given us the tools we needed to turn that dream into reality.”

To celebrate the launch of Lion Studios and to further promote the growth of independent game developers, AppLovin’s contest, which launches today and runs through August 13, will allow independent developers to submit games that have been published on the App Store or Google Play. AppLovin will award $300,000 in prizes to the four winning games. More details about the Ultimate Game Changers contest can be found at lionstudios.cc/contest.
