OPPO’s new Flagship “Find X” Smartphone Integrates Knowles SmartMic

Knowles SmartMic (IA610) is the world’s first microphone with an integrated DSP, providing customers an open platform for innovation and the ability to differentiate products through customized audio features

ITASCA, Ill.--()--Knowles Corporation (NYSE: KN), a market leader and global provider of advanced micro-acoustic, audio processing, and precision device solutions, today announced its SmartMic solution was selected by global smartphone leader OPPO for its new flagship smartphone “Find X.”

The Knowles SmartMic (IA610) is the world’s first solution to combine a high-performance MEMS microphone with a state-of-the-art audio DSP into a single, miniature package. The result is an open, flexible, and highly integrated platform ideal for OEMs that want to enable unique audio features, like always-on voice-wake or low power voice control. This includes mobile phones, headsets and battery operated consumer products as well as plugged-in devices requiring energy compliance.

Unlike competing voice-wake solutions that only work with one particular application processor (AP) or architecture, Knowles SmartMic enables smartphone customers to use the same solution across their devices, regardless of the AP or architecture, resulting in faster time-to-market, lower development costs, and a consistent user-experience across their entire product portfolio.

The Knowles SmartMic is a platform for innovation, giving customers like OPPO the ability to customize, add new features and differentiate their smartphones in the market. In addition to its unprecedented level of integration, the IA610’s key advantage is its ability to execute complex audio code while consuming very low power. The always-on voice-wake integrated on the Find X is an attractive feature that end-users are growing to expect on advanced phones, and OPPO’s implementation delivers high performance with limited impact to battery life. The Knowles SmartMic’s integrated DSP also enabled OPPO to add other unique new features like barge-in that allows the user to interrupt the playback of music or video with a unique keyword and perform a host of other possible actions.

Jeffrey Niew, President and CEO of Knowles, said, “We are pleased to be working with a world leader like OPPO who has implemented our SmartMic solution to enable unique audio features in the Find X. Our open and flexible solution offers OPPO a platform for audio innovation allowing them to further differentiate their products in the market.”
