CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Journal of Managed Care®, the leading peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, will host the webcast “Implementing Alternative Payment Models for Improved Population Health: Experiences From the Oncology Care Model (OCM)” on June 28 at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. (EST). This webcast offers payers, healthcare practitioners, and practice administrators the opportunity to hear a distinguished panel as they review and compare OCM implementation in community and academic practices, discuss performance feedback from the initial reconciliation reports, and the impact of program updates, continuing needs, and potential next steps for the Model.
“We are excited to host this continuing program that shares practical insights from practice leaders actively engaged in the OCM,” said Jeff Prescott, PharmD, senior vice president, Managed Markets at AJMC®. “Attendees will gain deep insight while exploring the effectiveness and efficiency of this payment and care delivery model.”
The panel will be moderated by Bruce A. Feinberg, DO, vice president and chief medical officer, Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions. Feinberg will be joined by distinguished OCM experts Bruce J. Gould, MD, medical director, Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers; president, Community Oncology Alliance and Mark Liu, director of strategic initiative for the oncology service line, Mount Sinai Health System.
The OCM, a 5-year alternative payment model pilot designed by CMS, aims to improve patient care by appropriately aligning financial incentives with care coordination, appropriateness of care, and access to care for beneficiaries receiving chemotherapy. This model is intended to deliver quality care at an affordable cost by combining a two-part payment system, which includes an upfront payment to support infrastructure and opportunities for performance-based payments focused on lowered total costs during an episode of care.
