Life Science Washington’s Inaugural East-West Summit

SPOKANE, Wash.--()--Life Science Washington:

What: Hosted by Life Science Washington, the inaugural East-West Life Science Summit will showcase life science research, discovery, entrepreneurship, and innovation throughout Eastern Washington and foster cross-state collaboration through networking opportunities and information sharing. The Summit will also provide an opportunity to introduce college students to the life science ecosystem in Eastern Washington, encouraging them to pursue industrial as well as academic careers in the life sciences.

Details: The Summit will feature a keynote address by biotech visionary Lee Hood, MD, PhD and panel discussions on:

  • The Arivale-Institute for Systems Biology-Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Collaboration: An Innovative Approach to Putting Personalized Medicine into Action
  • Impacting Global Public Health through Cross-State Collaborations: The Antimicrobial Resistance Coalition
  • Building Life Science Companies throughout Eastern Washington
  • Taking Advantage of Washington’s Diverse Ecosystem Assets

Background: The nationally competitive Eastern Washington health sciences cluster is currently a billion-dollar industry and is projected to grow to $2.5 billion within the next decade. Spokane's University District is the fastest growing health sciences campus in North America. With Eastern and Western Washington working together, the state of Washington can create a truly cohesive, dynamic statewide life science ecosystem.
