$50,000 in Scholarships Awarded to Biohealth Companies to Represent Wisconsin at BIO 2018

BioForward and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation partner to provide local biohealth companies the opportunity to represent Wisconsin at international BIO conference

MADISON, Wis.--()--Thirty scholarships have been awarded to Wisconsin biohealth companies to attend and exhibit at the International BIO Convention in Boston, MA, June 4-7, 2018. Recipients will receive opportunities to participate in one-on-one partnership meetings, showcase their products, network with industry leaders, and represent Wisconsin’s strength in the biohealth industry.

“This conference presents the unique opportunity for our companies to make connections and showcase their business on an international level,” said Lisa Johnson, CEO of BioForward. “We must continue to support our companies in every way possible to elevate our industry’s impact on integrated health solutions and Wisconsin’s economy.”

The Small Business Scholarship program is managed by BioForward and supported by funds provided by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). Scholarship recipients are Wisconsin biohealth companies that demonstrate a positive impact on the biohealth industry and have a financial need.

“WEDC is committed to helping early-stage companies connect with international partners, identify foreign direct investment opportunities and expand their revenue and business in Wisconsin,” said WEDC Vice President of International Business Development Katy Sinnott. “The International BIO Convention will serve as an important opportunity for these businesses to further their R&D efforts and highlight the cutting-edge work that Wisconsin biohealth companies are contributing to the global economy.”

The 2018 BIO scholarship recipients include:

Aldevron serves the biotechnology industry with custom production of nucleic acids, proteins and antibodies.

Alithias provides population health data analytics and patient advocacy services to more than 60 employers covering >60,000 lives.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin (part of Versiti) combines an unparalleled experience in transfusion medicine, transplantation, stem cells and cellular therapies, oncology and genomics, diagnostic lab services, and medical and scientific expertise.

Biomax Informatics specializes in research software for bioinformatics.

BrainXell provides iPSC-derived human neurons to the pharmaceutical industry and other research organizations for CNS drug discovery and development.

Co-D Therapeutics, Inc. is a preclinical stage pharmaceutical company developing novel and transforming combination therapies with high safety profiles to treat cancer.

DNASTAR provides useful, affordable, accessible genomics software to a broad a range of life scientists.

ENDECE has discovered a drug for inducing remyelination in devastating demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

Imbed Biosciences is a developing stage tissue engineering company commercializing patented advanced bioresorbable materials for soft-tissue repair and regeneration.

Intense Engineering designs, develops and builds turnkey automated systems, custom equipment and products for life science companies.

Intuitive Biosciences provides diagnostic solutions to improve workflow and provide the most accurate results, providing the expertise needed to rapidly convert or build new multiplex immunoassays.
