PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has achieved Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) certification at its two manufacturing facilities in California, in Carson and City of Industry. The AWS International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS Standard) is a leading global standard for responsible water management.

The AWS Standard is a framework designed to promote sustainable freshwater use. The free, globally consistent and locally adaptable standard outlines a set of water stewardship criteria and indicators for how water should be stewarded at a site and within a watershed that is environmentally, socially and economically beneficial.
Ecolab is a founding partner of the AWS. In 2015, the company’s manufacturing plant in Taicang, China, which is located in a water-sensitive area in the Taihu basin of the Yangtze region, was the first site in the world to receive AWS Standard certification.
“We strategically evaluated our manufacturing footprint and are implementing the AWS Standard at sites with high water scarcity, quality or regulatory risks,” added Alex Blanco, Ecolab executive vice president and chief supply chain officer. “Achieving certification at our two manufacturing facilities in water-stressed California was a priority.”
