ENGIE North America Begins Construction of Live Oak Wind Project in Texas

HOUSTON--()--ENGIE North America Inc. today announced the start of construction of the Live Oak Wind Project, located in Schleicher County, near San Angelo, in west Texas. With a total capacity of approximately 200 MW, Live Oak is part of the Infinity Renewables portfolio recently acquired by ENGIE North America. Live Oak is scheduled to be online by the end of 2018.

The project will use 76 Siemens-Gamesa 2.625 MW turbines with 120-meter rotors, and the balance of the facility will be constructed by Blattner Energy, Inc. The total capital investment of the project is approximately $200 million and will generate significant benefits to the local area, with annual payments to landowners, purchases of local goods and services, donations to the Schleicher County Independent School District, and payments to the various taxing entities over the life of the project.

Infinity Renewables began development of the Live Oak project in 2009, and worked diligently with landowners and the local community over several years to advance the project to construction.

“We are thrilled to break ground on the Live Oak project so soon after completing our sale to ENGIE,” said Matt Riley, Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Wind Development at ENGIE North America. “It’s a testament to the strength of the acquisition and our collective drive to build the strongest wind portfolio possible in the United States. Live Oak is just the first of many successes we expect over the coming months and years.”
