CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SCC Soft Computer (SCC) and Australian Red Cross Blood Service (the Blood Service) have initiated an implementation planning study to assess SCC’s laboratory and genetics information management systems—including SCC’s SoftMolecular®, SoftHLA®, SoftTotalQC®, SoftMedia®, SoftBI®, SoftGenePortal®, and SoftDMI®—in delivering capabilities that meet the Blood Services’ current and future laboratory needs.
Serving a customer network of 600-plus hospital and health providers and supplying blood to 23 million people across 7 million square kilometers, the Blood Service is seeking a laboratory information management system (LIMS) for use in their Manufacturing, Red Cell Reference, and Transplantation & Immunogenetics Services divisions, which include 100 blood collection facilities, 4 major blood processing centers, and 2 major distribution hubs with approximately 3,500 employees and more than 1,000 non-donor volunteers.
During the implementation planning study, the Blood Service and SCC are working together to map out an implementation strategy with best practices that will fulfill the project requirements in scope and on budget. The Blood Service and SCC will work together to analyze and identify processes that need to be modified in order to leverage out of the box system capabilities and minimize software customizations. The Blood Service’s goal is to realize benefits in an iterative approach—by focusing on a laboratory or processing center, an area of functionality, or a subset of instruments.
“During this selection process we’re demonstrating that our software is built to accommodate large, complex networks now and in the future,” said SCC’s CEO, Mr. Gilbert Hakim. “SCC has a wide range of products specifically developed for large multisite facilities. We understand that the selection of a new LIMS must be a well thought out process, and we have confidence in our software and implementation strategies.”
SCC’s information management systems are flexible and versatile, and the company has experience implementing their systems in large-scale, multisite healthcare organizations with software in live operation at some of the world’s most renowned academic medical institutions. SCC is committed to providing the Blood Service a dedicated on-site project management presence for the duration of the implementation—and beyond.
