BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cook Group has received the Regional Talent Innovation Award for My Cook Pathway, the company’s education assistance and workforce development program. Since its inception in 2016, the My Cook Pathway program has provided over 1,000 employees the opportunity to advance their education and career skills, including 28 individuals who received their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
The Regional Talent Award, presented by the Regional Opportunity Initiative Inc. (ROI), recognizes organizations that are innovative in their efforts to address the talent shortage in Southwest Central Indiana. Cook Group partnered with Broadview Learning Center, Ivy Tech Community College, WorkOne, and others in the community to build the program.
“More than 29,000 people in our region don’t have a high school diploma. My Cook Pathway’s High School Equivalency program provides the incentive that gets people committed to going back to school, tying education directly to a job,” said Pete Yonkman, president of Cook Group and Cook Medical. “The whole My Cook Pathway program is about removing barriers and providing the resources for people to take their education as far as they want – from HSE to Ph.D.”
Cook received the award yesterday during the Annual Report to the Region meeting by ROI, an organization dedicated to supporting economic and community prosperity in the 11 counties of Southwest Central Indiana.
