SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sysdig, Inc., the container intelligence company, announced today that it has joined the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) as a new Participating Organization. Sysdig will work with the PCI SSC to help secure payment data worldwide through the ongoing development and adoption of the PCI Security Standards.
The PCI SSC leads a global, cross-industry effort to increase payment security by providing flexible, industry-driven, and effective data security standards and programs. The keystone is the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), which provides an actionable framework for developing a robust payment card data security process and preventing, detecting, and mitigating criminal attacks and breaches.
There has been a rapid adoption of containers due to their portability, the ability to provide robust security through isolation, and the potential to develop better services faster; however, the pace of adoption is hard to match on the compliance side. Sysdig covers the main challenges and opportunities to successfully manage PCI Compliance in container and Kubernetes environments in their latest blog, “5 Changes Containers Bring to PCI Compliance.”
As a Participating Organization, Sysdig adds its voice to the standards development process and will collaborate with a growing community of more than 800 Participating Organizations to improve payment security worldwide. Sysdig will also have the opportunity to recommend new initiatives for consideration to the PCI Security Standards Council and share cross-sector experiences and best practices at the annual PCI Community Meetings.
“In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, PCI Security Standards and resources help organizations secure payment data and prevent, detect, and mitigate attacks that can lead to costly data breaches,” said Mauro Lance, Chief Operating Officer of the PCI Security Standards Council. “By joining as a Participating Organization, Sysdig demonstrates they are playing an active part in improving payment security globally by helping drive awareness and adoption of PCI Security Standards.”
“As a Participating Organization, we will draw upon our experience monitoring and securing millions of containers across hundreds of enterprises to help improve payment data security worldwide,” said Loris Degioanni, CEO and founder of Sysdig. “We are the only unified platform to deliver security, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a microservices-friendly architecture, which gives us a valuable and well-rounded perspective. We will approach our position as a Participating Organization the same way we approach our Container Intelligence Platform – we will dig deep to solve the most complex problems and proactively uncover issues before they manifest, just like we already do for our clients.”
