Council of Administrators of Special Education Extends Endorsement of Fast ForWord Program from Scientific Learning Corp.

Review committee commended continuing improvements, updates and enhancements to the research-based Fast ForWord program, which enables students with learning disabilities to achieve quick and lasting learning gains

OAKLAND, Calif.--()--The Fast ForWord® program from Scientific Learning Corp. (OTC PINK:SCIL) has received an official re-endorsement from the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), an international professional organization and affiliate of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). CASE provides professional leadership and support to special education administrators by shaping policies and practices which impact the quality of education.

The Fast ForWord program was initially endorsed by CASE in 2015 after undergoing a rigorous evaluation of a wide range of criteria including the product’s research base, application with students who have learning differences, application in diverse settings, performance in field tests, customer satisfaction, and enhancement of professional practices advocated by CASE. To qualify for an additional three-year endorsement period, the Fast ForWord program — including product updates, improvements, and enhancements since the original submission — was re-evaluated by the CASE Executive Committee, which approved re-endorsement.

“The Fast ForWord program is particularly unique in that it is not only based on more than 30 years of neuroscience research into how the brain learns, but also because it accelerates learning for a wide range of learners including general education, at-risk, English language learners, and students with a wide range of special needs and abilities,” said Dr. Luann Purcell, executive director of CASE. “We are pleased to recognize and endorse Fast ForWord to our members.”

Developed by neuroscientists, Fast ForWord uses a unique three-step approach to deliver fast gains to struggling students. First, it prepares the brain for reading by improving the foundational language and cognitive skills that are often weak in these students. Second, it provides personalized, intensive practice on a variety of language and reading skills — more than any other approach or intervention. Third, it uses speech verification technology to support and listen to students as they read aloud, like a guided reading coach. Once these areas are addressed, students’ language, reading, and all learning improve quickly, and changes continue even after they complete the program.
