SG Blocks Designs and Delivers Container-Based Office Facility for ETC, Global Manufacturer of Lighting and Rigging Technology

36 GreenSteel Container Project to Create 11,500 Square Feet of Office Space for Middleton, Wisconsin Company

BROOKLYN, NY--()--SG Blocks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SGBX), a leading designer, innovator and fabricator of container-based structures, has designed and delivered a container-based office facility for ETC, a global leader in the manufacturing of lighting and rigging technology. SG Blocks supplied 36 of its GreenSteel™ product, the structural core and shell of an SG Blocks building, to create the interior of a new two-story, 11,500 square-foot office. Containers were delivered during in January and February 2018 and the building will be completed by June 2018.

“Projects of this magnitude highlight our ability to quickly, efficiently and affordably design and deliver large-scale buildings and structures,” stated Paul Galvin, Chairman and CEO of SG Blocks. “ETC has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years and we are delighted to have collaborated on this sprawling new office space, which will bring new talent to the company and further expand its presence in Wisconsin.”

Founded in 1975 in Madison, Wisconsin, ETC began with a belief that there was a better way to make a lighting control console. Since its inception, the company has grown to have offices in 10 countries with more than 1,000 employees across the globe.

“As we began designing this expansion of our headquarters building, we knew we wanted to create an environment that expressed and supported the inventive work of our research and development team,” stated Frank Miller, ETC Business Architect. “ETC is a company with a uniquely creative culture and vision. Using upcycled shipping containers enables us to enhance our culture with an industrial, do-it-yourself look, translated into a modern, yet functional, work environment that makes a statement.”

“This project demonstrated simplistic integration of container building technology packaged inside a much larger conventionally framed office and manufacturing facility,” stated Stevan Armstrong, Chief Technology Officer, SG Blocks. “The containers were used in a ‘village’ stacking scheme surrounded by decks and pedestrian areas all enclosed inside a new large warehouse facility. Combining a creative use of space and container technology, the spaces will provide both private working stations as well as group gathering areas for special meetings and brainstorming sessions with staff.”

SG Blocks continues to see increased momentum in the office market as well as across the Midwest. The firm utilizes code-engineered cargo shipping containers to construct and provide safe, durable and environmentally-friendly structures. Its exclusive ESR number, granted by the International Code Council (ICC) and held by no other container construction company, ensures its ability to meet and exceed all international building codes.
