SVAMC’s 2018 Tech List Released, Naming the World’s Leading Technology Arbitrators and Mediators

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Silicon Valley Arbitration & Mediation Center (SVAMC) has released its highly anticipated 2018 List of the World’s Leading Technology Neutrals (the “Tech List”). SVAMC promotes efficient and effective technology dispute resolution, including the use of arbitration and mediation to resolve business disputes. The Tech List named 49 professionals this year. SVAMC Tech List appointees are based in key markets in the United States and across the globe including Boston, Miami, New York, Silicon Valley/San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Geneva, Hong Kong, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, and Sydney.

Now in its fourth year of operation, SVAMC has become the leading U.S. and global resource for the use of arbitration and mediation in the technology industry. SVAMC plans to increase diversity and continue expanding the representation of neutrals operating in Europe and Asia on its annual list in the coming year.

“I have been impressed with both the progress and new initiatives launched by SVAMC over the past year,” said Maria Chedid, a partner with Baker McKenzie in San Francisco. “It is an honor to be named again to the annual Tech List, and it has been gratifying to participate with my colleagues in expanding the use of arbitration and mediation by technology companies around the globe. SVAMC has its finger on the pulse of tech sector dispute resolution, and is increasingly serving as a go-to resource for parties, counsel, and arbitral institutions.”

Technology industries today are not only the main driver of economic growth, but also make up a significant portion of the global economy. As the need for alternative dispute resolution (ADR) becomes more apparent in an ever-evolving technology-based society, selecting the right neutral becomes a paramount focus. Some of ADR’s advantages over traditional litigation proceedings include efficiency, cost savings, privacy, enforcement of international judgments, and the ability to select the most qualified decision-maker, rather than relying on courts and juries.

Law firms, corporations, and ADR institutions use the Tech List as a reliable roster of exceptionally experienced and talented neutrals who “get” technology and, just as importantly, possess a deep understanding of the tech business world. All appointees are members of a recognized U.S. or international arbitral or mediation institution panel and are ranked for superior expertise in resolving technology disputes, including technology development and distribution, intellectual property, corporate, finance, trade regulation, and other tech sector commercial matters.

The list is peer-vetted and includes only the most exceptionally qualified arbitrators and mediators, known for their skill in crafting business-practical legal solutions in the technology sector. These professionals have collectively handled thousands of successful mediations and arbitrations.
