BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--North American uniform rental and linen supply company, AmeriPride, achieved 419% ROI with Vertica for analytics and data management using the vendor’s core SQL database for a bigger multi-phase data project. AmeriPride deployed quickly within the first two months of the project, allowing the new analytics reporting to produce significant returns just over a year after initial deployments.
More than a century after its founding in Minnetonka, MN, AmeriPride was looking to break out of a period of stagnant growth by addressing the need for a centralized and standardized way to integrate multiple data silos for almost 50 regional branches. After a proof-of-concept period with Vertica demonstrating an easily scalable and less costly solution than available alternatives, the company deployed the new solution in stages supervised by only a small team required to oversee the needs of thousands of users across the business.
“AmeriPride sought to consolidate and integrate solutions, eschewing its piecemeal software stack for data management and BI reporting that required quite a bit of external people-middleware from multiple vendors. The company brought management tools in line with an internal team with the help of the Vertica analytics platform, eliminating legacy hardware and software costs along with increasing productivity, software performance and revenue for the company,” said Joe Mathias, analyst at Nucleus Research.
Nucleus Research quantified the initial and ongoing costs of software fees, hardware, personnel time to implement and support the application as well as employee training time and fees to determine project costs for Vertica while carefully delineating between other phases of the data project. For costs associated with the entire project, a reasonable and conservative percentage was assigned to Vertica.
