JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--()--EverBank, The Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365 and EverFi teamed up to challenge local Eagle County students’ financial literacy skills for a chance to win a trip to the 2017 Audi FIS Birds of Prey World Cup in Beaver Creek, CO.

Applying the learning from EverFi’s Financial Values and Goal Setting modules, local Eagle County elementary and middle school students submitted a digital video addressing the question, “If you were to win $1,000, how would you apply the lessons learned from EverFi to better your community?”

EverBank and YouthPower365 are committed to empowering youth by providing the right financial tools to achieve success. The challenge provided a fun and engaging way for students to learn these important life skills that last beyond the classroom.

The fourth grade class of Eagle Valley Charter Academy and the sixth grade class of Homestake Peak School were selected based on their submissions and won a trip to see the best skiers in the world at the 2017 Audi FIS Birds of Prey World Cup on Dec. 1, 2017. They also each received $1,000 to invest in community programs important to the students. Small Champions, Shaw Regional Cancer Center, Eagle Valley Humane Society and the U.S. Forest Service were all recipients of the classes’ generosity.

“EverBank is proud to be a part of empowering the next generation through the Financial Literacy Challenge,” said Blake Wilson, president and chief executive officer of EverBank. “With each of our sponsorships, we want to find a way to positively impact the community. This challenge served as a platform for idea generation and exploration to help students work together to improve their schools and we’re excited they were able to be recognized and celebrated at the 2017 Birds of Prey World Cup.”

“Ski racing is an important part of our valley’s history and culture, and we believe it’s important that every child have an opportunity to experience an event that is so integral to our community,” said Mike Imhof, president and chief executive officer of the Vail Valley Foundation. “EverBank is doing great work to create an unforgettable experience for these youth and to share some important financial literacy lessons along the way.”

EverBank is the official bank of the Vail Valley Foundation and the 2017 Audi FIS Birds of Prey World Cup. EverBank has been a sponsor of the Vail Valley Foundation since 2014 and their relationship continues to grow.
