Quandl to Host Alternative Data Conference 2018

Second annual event will feature MIT Professor Alex “Sandy” Pentland as keynote speaker

TORONTO & NEW YORK--()--Quandl, the leading provider of alternative data for financial services, will host its second annual Alternative Data Conference on January 18, 2018 in New York, NY.

The one day event will host institutional investors and investment professionals as they explore the radically evolving landscape of alternative data. The conference’s keynotes and sessions will explore:

  • Quantitative and discretionary use cases for different types of alternative data from a broad range of sectors, including construction, business operations and consumer spending
  • Challenges in adopting alternative datasets, as illustrated by top investment and data professionals
  • Peripheral factors affecting the data landscape, including legal and regulatory matters, recruitment strategies and the use of data for AI in finance

“Our first Alternative Data Conference served as the industry’s introduction to what was then a new idea. The ability to source and analyze alternative data has since become an essential skill for professional investors,” said Tammer Kamel, CEO of Quandl. “We've designed ADC 18 to deliver on this. Data sourcing, analysis techniques, legal expertise and, of course, the release of new datasets are on tap at this year's event.”

ADC 18 will host a roster of premiere speakers and sponsors from the financial, data science and AI worlds. Alex “Sandy” Pentland, MIT Media Lab professor and renowned AI expert, will keynote the event.

“There are exciting advances in the application of new types of data to investment models,” said Pentland. “I look forward to thoughtful discussion at Quandl’s conference.”

“We are delighted to have Sandy keynote our conference,” added Kamel. “The work he is doing right now is imperative to the progression of the industry. His approach to analytics and his expertise in behavioral science will be of tremendous value to each of our guests.”

Additional presenters and sponsors will be announced in the weeks leading up to the conference. Further information and registration details for ADC 2018 can be found at https://www.quandl.com/alternative-data-conference
