LOS ALTOS, Calif.--()--AISense announced today it has raised a $10 million Series A round as part of its mission to make all voice conversations accessible and searchable through Ambient Voice Intelligence™. The company is powering transcription for the Zoom Video Communications platform and is working to ship a consumer product available in early 2018. This round brings total funding to $13 million since the company was founded in early 2016.

The round is led by Horizons Ventures with participation from Tim Draper’s Draper Associates and Draper Dragon Fund, David Cheriton, the first Google investor, and Bridgewater Associates, among others. Bart Swanson, an advisor at Horizons Ventures, has also joined the AISense board.

“We wanted to invest in AISense because of the audacious vision behind the concept of Ambient Voice Intelligence,” said Swanson. “The freedom it offers to detach from our devices and our notebooks and stay present and focused in conversations is something that has massive appeal in the enterprise, education and other sectors.”

AISense will give people the power to store, search and share the details of their everyday conversations without any limits or constraints. The forthcoming consumer product will unlock a new dimension of verbal conversations through an elegant integration of AI and user-centric design, so participants can forget about taking notes and trust that a much better shared transcript and summary will be automatically generated.

In the workplace, AISense will allow people to focus and untether themselves from distracting devices and note-taking during meetings, calls and video conferences. Zoom is licensing AISense’s core technology so its users can be the first to experience instant and accurate voice transcription and search of recorded meetings.

Chief Executive Officer Sam Liang founded AISense with a plan to transform voice conversations using Ambient Voice Intelligence, a proprietary technology that is capable of automatic speech recognition, speaker identification and separation, speech-and-text sync, deep content search, and natural language processing. A visionary developer, Liang is best known for pioneering the iconic blue dot as tech lead for Google’s location services. He successfully sold his last startup, Alohar Mobile, to Alibaba. Now, with top talent from Google, Yahoo!, Nuance, and a number of Ph.Ds and computer scientists from Stanford, Duke, MIT, Cambridge and other top schools, AISense is harnessing advanced artificial intelligence to bring new life to human-to-human conversations.

“Our implementation with Zoom points to the promise of unmetered processing of voice conversations that will make our verbal communication as easy to recall, search, and share as email or other text communications,” said Liang. “This is the true promise of Ambient Voice Intelligence.”

On average, people say around 16,500 words every day. Though people can search for emails sent years ago, there is no easy way to search their verbal conversations. AISense aims to make those words accessible and searchable in the same way texts and emails are now, and to provide digestible summaries of what was said and what was agreed by various participants
