CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SpotHero, North America’s leading parking reservation service, has been named one of the winners of the 16th annual Chicago Innovation Awards. Selected as a winner from more than 530 nominations, SpotHero was awarded the honor for its HeroConnect parking mobility platform.
The winners were announced at an event held at Chicago’s Harris Theater on Monday, October 30, with nearly 1,500 business and civic leaders, and supporters of innovation in attendance. The Chicago Innovation Awards is the region’s foremost recognition of the most innovative new products or services brought to market or to public service each year.
“Chicago’s innovators continue to demonstrate the breadth of innovation found in the Chicago region, cutting across all industries, sectors and sizes,” said Tom Kuczmarski, co-founder with Chicago journalist Dan Miller of the awards. “The 2017 winners are pioneers in healthcare, food services, data analytics, architecture, chemical products, transportation, government, household appliances, digital technology, childcare, non-profit, economic development, and beauty care.”
SpotHero’s HeroConnect platform provides third parties with the development tools necessary to offer transactional parking functionality seamlessly in their native platforms. Encompassing an open API, SDK and embeddable web widget tools, HeroConnect allows the broader transportation industry – from automakers to car rental, navigation and data companies – to include SpotHero in their cars, equipment, and apps.
“We’re actively preparing both sides of the marketplace for the transportation ecosystem of tomorrow,” said Mark Lawrence, co-founder and CEO of SpotHero. “By connecting the automotive industry with the largest network of online parking facilities and drivers, SpotHero plans to power parking for all connected cars and autonomous vehicles. This recognition among such amazing company is especially sweet coming from Chicago, our hometown.”
The winning organizations receive a variety of honors including the opportunity to ring the NASDAQ Bell in New York City, and meetings with the mayor, governor and Cook County president.
