IDERA Acquires AquaFold to Expand Database Tools Business

Company significantly expands platform support, including Cloud and NoSQL

HOUSTON--()--IDERA, the leading provider of database, development, and test management tools, today announced an agreement to acquire AquaFold, a provider of powerful and easy to use cross-platform database tools. AquaFold will join IDERA’s database development and management portfolio, enabling the company to significantly expand its multi-platform support, and meet the needs of nearly all database professionals.

AquaFold’s Aqua Data Studio is used by more than 300,000 IT professionals in 98 countries to help them design, develop, model and administer their databases. It provides an integrated database environment that supports the most popular open source version control systems, legacy enterprise and open source relational databases, and NoSQL databases, and works on all major operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

“IDERA continues to build out its portfolio of end user-focused products with a focus on ease of use, fast time to value, and performance,” said Matt Aslett, Research Director, Data Platforms and Analytics, at 451 Research. “With the acquisition of AquaFold, IDERA expands its footprint to address the bulk of the database tools market with products for multiple platforms and use cases, including data analytics.”

“AquaFold’s all-in-one tools are a powerful fit with IDERA’s database tools business and will allow customers to simplify multi-platform database administration in complex enterprise environments,” said Heidi Farris, CMO of IDERA. “We are very excited about this space and will continue to innovate and invest in these capabilities.”

AquaFold recently released Aqua Data Studio 18, providing schema synchronization which enables users to seamlessly deploy differences from a source to a target database schema. The latest version significantly enhances Visual Analytics to provide business intelligence users more ways to analyze their ever-growing data volumes quickly and efficiently.

“Joining the IDERA family will enhance AquaFold’s R&D and go-to-market capabilities,” said Niels Gron, CEO of AquaFold. “This is the next logical step in our efforts to expand our product breadth and depth, and meet the growing demand of customers to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously from a single powerful interface.”
