CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Dana Edelson, the founder and CEO of Quant HC, which develops algorithms for real-time risk stratification of hospitalized patients, was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the 110 Women in MedTech to Know for 2017. Dr. Edelson’s company recently launched its flagship analytic, eCART, which enables clinicians to precisely detect inpatients at risk of sepsis, cardiac arrest, and other forms of acute clinical deterioration. eCART currently monitors hundreds of thousands of patients a year, alerting clinicians to those in need of additional resources, and has been shown to decrease cardiac arrests and hospital length of stay.
Dr. Edelson is a graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in hospital medicine, and a masters degree in health studies at the University of Chicago before joining the faculty, where she still practices as a hospitalist. She is an internationally recognized expert in the treatment and prevention of in-hospital cardiac arrest, with a focus in harnessing big data analytics and new technology to identify subtle changes in clinical stability. Her research in cardiac arrest, clinical deterioration and sepsis has been published in high profile journals such as JAMA, Circulation, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Medicine and has been cited over 5,000 times.
