Salem Partners and Mandarin Oriental Announce Plans to Open a Luxury Hotel and Residences in Honolulu

LOS ANGELES--()--Salem Partners, a leading Los Angeles-based investment bank and wealth management firm, has partnered with luxury hotel group Mandarin Oriental with intention to open a hotel and branded residences currently under development in Honolulu on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Targeted to open in early 2020, the Mana’olana Place development provides an unmatched opportunity to introduce Mandarin Oriental’s luxury hospitality to one of the most popular tourism and business destinations.

Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu will be the crown jewel in Mana’olana Place, a 36-story mixed-use tower with extensive gardens and public plazas. Located in the heart of the Ala Moana District, adjacent to the world-renowned Waikiki District and surrounded by the city’s most affluent neighborhoods, Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu will be close to the Hawaii Convention Center and the Ala Moana Center, the world’s largest open air shopping destination. At the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Atkinson Drive, Mana’olana Place is the first approved project in the city’s exciting and newly adopted Ala Moana transit hub.

The iconic 743,000-square-foot tower will house the hotel’s 125 chic and contemporary guestrooms and suites, designed to reflect the local culture while paying attention to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s oriental heritage. Located on the tower’s upper floors, 107 Residences at Mandarin Oriental will provide some of the most luxurious private homes with the finest amenities and services on the island.

The design architects of the project are the Colorado-based firm, [au]workshop who envision the design as a modern, vertical urban resort epitomizing the Hawaiian tradition of the “lanai” with its seamless indoor-outdoor sense of place. Hawaii-based Architects Hawaii Ltd. will serve as the executive architect. The stellar design team also includes Dianna Wong Architects + Interior Design and Hart Howerton Landscape Architects.

Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu is set to become one of the Island’s most sought after dining destinations featuring a signature rooftop restaurant and bar 400 feet above the city’s streets with landscaped outdoor terraces and offering stunning views of Diamond Head, Ala Moana Beach and Downtown Honolulu. There also will be a sky-lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant and extensive banqueting, wedding and meeting spaces with views over the outdoor terraces and gardens. A Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation with eight treatment rooms, a comprehensive fitness center and an 80-foot outdoor swimming pool.
