DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OpenKey, the industry standard for universal mobile key access, announced a special program today that enables hotels nationwide to offer the improved digital guest experience of mobile key technology. The program provides hotels with new Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) lock upgrades at no cost as part of a bundle package with the OpenKey smartphone technology service.
OpenKey is helping to reinvent the hospitality experience by allowing guests authorized and secure access to their hotel room from their smartphone or mobile device. Travelers have access to their room and additional conveniences via the app.
“We are very excited to offer such a unique program to hotels nationwide,” said Brian Shedd, OpenKey’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Mobile key technology requires a BLE lock, and to date that has been the major hurdle for hotels to adopt the vastly improved guest experience of digital key.”
With the recent release of OpenKey Version 2.0 app, guests are able to manage their check-in, call the front desk directly, confirm their identity with an ID capture for security and send their estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the hotel.
“We want to bring the mobile key experience to hotel guests nationwide, and offering to offset the cost of upgrading hotel locks to BLE is the most actionable way we can think of to do that,” said TJ Person, OpenKey’s CEO.
Hotels with RFID locks purchased within the last five years will qualify for OpenKey’s upgrade lock program. These locks are capable of being upgraded with a BLE module without replacing the entire lock structure.
