ServiceNow Gains FedRAMP Certification From the U.S. Government

Passes government’s most rigorous technical review for cloud computing

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--ServiceNow (NYSE:NOW), the enterprise cloud company, today announced the ServiceNow platform has received FedRAMP certification from the U.S. government that gives federal agencies the confidence to accelerate their move to the cloud. This certifies that the ServiceNow government community cloud has passed the federal risk management process defining standard security requirements for all cloud providers. This will save individual agencies the time and money they may have spent doing their own information assurance assessment.

The Joint Authorization Board (JAB) granted ServiceNow a FedRAMP Provisional Authorization to Operate (P-ATO). This federal compliance opens the door for agencies to quickly meet the U.S. government’s Cloud First initiative and realize the benefits of cloud-based service management. ServiceNow operates the only enterprise service management cloud platform granted JAB P-ATO status to-date.

“Given the rigorous requirements to achieve this level of compliance, which includes a greater depth of review than that of an agency-level authorization, federal agencies can confidently choose the ServiceNow cloud to streamline their enterprise services,” said Steve Alfieris, vice president of Federal, ServiceNow. “ServiceNow can help free federal agencies from the onus of maintaining legacy, on-premises tools—where 75% of their IT budgets are now spent. Our modern and agile platform will help agencies realize their mission objectives and citizen services.”

Today, more than 100 U.S. federal government customers, such as NASA, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Defense (DOD), use the ServiceNow platform to modernize, transform and innovate enterprise-wide service delivery. The ServiceNow software enables agencies to improve services such as IT, human resources and finance across their enterprise. Agencies can leverage the ServiceNow cloud platform to rapidly deliver new applications for citizen services. The ServiceNow platform is a multi-instance cloud architecture, which provides customers with unprecedented visibility, control and security.

FedRAMP is the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. Cloud systems listed under the FedRAMP P-ATO path have undergone a technical review by the FedRAMP Program Management Office and were reviewed by the CIOs of the General Services Administration, Department of Homeland Security and DOD, among others. In addition to P-ATO, other FedRAMP certification categories include Agency FedRAMP Authorization, and CSP Supplied Packages. See the full list of FedRAMP-certified vendors here.
