Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network Urges Consumers to Buy from Veterans

Local Non-Profit Promotes Veteran-Owned Businesses Through Partnership with JDog Junk Removal & Hauling

PHILADELPHIA--()--This Veterans Day week, Nov. 8-14, the non-profit organization, Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network (GPVN) is encouraging the region to thank veterans by supporting veteran-owned businesses.

Standing by its three-fold mission to assist veterans, National Guard and reservists to find work, educate local employers on how to hire veterans and offer veteran professional leadership and entrepreneurship programs, GPVN is further developing the region for veteran success through a partnership with Berwyn-based JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, the only U.S. franchise business devoted solely to proving business ownership opportunities exclusively to military veterans and their families.

“Like many organizations founded in military roots, JDog exudes values of respect, integrity and trust in each job while delivering exceptional service. Who wouldn’t want to purchase that level of quality?” said GPVN Founder Alex Archawski. “During Veterans Day week, and all year long, GPVN is recommending the greater Philadelphia area buy goods and services from veteran-owned businesses in order to give our regional veteran entrepreneurs the best chance for success.”

Through the distribution of more than 200 JDog lawn signs throughout various Pennsylvania counties, GPVN will spread its mission to promote veteran-owned companies even further. JDog is only one example of many Philadelphia-area veteran-owned businesses that provide goods and services to the general public while upholding premium military values.

This promotion prefaces GPVN’s upcoming Veteran Shark Tank event to be held Dec. 7, 2015. Similar to the ABC network’s popular television show “Shark Tank,” aspiring entrepreneurs, who are military veterans, pitch their business plan to an audience and panel of sharks. The winning pitch will receive a monetary prize and business services, while all applicants receive free business coaching. As a participant in last year’s Veteran Shark Tank, CEO and Founder of JDog, Jerry Flanagan believes that hosting events like these will attract awareness to veteran issues and business ideas, as well as investor support.

“I am inspired by the continuous support given to veterans by GPVN,” said Flanagan, an Army veteran and Founder of JDog. “From events and mentorships to employer education and career service training, the organization goes above and beyond to educate our region on how to best thank and support our country’s veterans.”
