OPENING OCTOBER 9 AT THE ANGELIKA IN SAN DIEGO:

PAN
Acclaimed director Joe Wright (PRIDE & PREJUDICE, ATONEMENT) delivers a thrilling new take on J.M. Barrie’s beloved classic stories, PAN follows the tale of an orphan who is spirited away to magical Neverland. The family action-adventure stars Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman (LES MISERABLES) as Blackbeard the pirate, Garrett Hedlund (INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS) as Hook, Oscar nominee Rooney Mara (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, CAROL), and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter Pan.

THE WALK
The highly-anticipated opening night film at this year’s New York Film Festival, THE WALK is the true story of famous high-wire artist Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, INCEPTION) and his 1974 wire walk across the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis (FORREST GUMP, CAST AWAY) uses innovative photorealistic techniques to craft one of this awards-season’s most thrilling contenders.

FREEHELD
Oscar winner Julianne Moore stars alongside Oscar nominees Ellen Page, Steve Carell and Michael Shannon in this poignant love story fresh from its Toronto International Film Festival premiere. After a decorated New Jersey police office is diagnosed with cancer, she is determined to leave her pension to her domestic partner. This stirring drama shows how social change is brought about by empathy, courage, and love.

HE NAMED ME MALALA
Acclaimed documentarian Davis Guggenheim (AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, WAITING FOR SUPERMAN) presents this intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban for advocating for girls’ education and severely wounded by a gunshot. HE NAMED ME MALALA is an inside glimpse into this extraordinary young girl’s life, from her close relationship with her father to her impassioned speeches at the UN.

99 HOMES
Critics are raving about 99 HOMES, with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this timely sensational thriller follows a charismatic and ruthless businessman (Oscar nominee Michael Shannon) making a killing by repossessing homes. After he evicts a single father trying to care for his mother (Andrew Garfield and Laura Dern), the father becomes so desperate to provide for his family that he goes to work for the very man who evicted him in the first place.

GOODNIGHT MOMMY
One of the most talked about horror-thrillers in decades, GOODNIGHT MOMMY is the clever and savagely disturbing debut from Austrian filmmakers Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. After their mother returns home from extensive cosmetic surgery, 9-year-old twin boys begin to doubt that this woman is really their mother. What ensues is a terrifying psychodrama, which blurs the lines between reality and paranoid fantasy.

RIFIFI
A worldwide smash hit, Jules Dassin’s 1955 classic RIFIFI returns to the big screen for a limited time with this impressive new restoration. A legendary 30-minute sequence highlights the brilliant jewel heist at the center of this film, which earned blacklisted Hollywood exile Dassin Cannes’ Best Director prize and set the standard for screen robberies for decades to come.
