BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DraftKings, Inc., the largest U.S.-based destination for daily fantasy sports, today announced a partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers to become the franchise’s daily fantasy sports partner. DraftKings will provide unique opportunities for fans to engage with the team, including tickets to games, VIP events and experiences as a result of the deal. Additionally, DraftKings will provide in-stadium fantasy updates and LED signage display, and will be featured on the Steelers’ digital media properties including NFL NOW, the Steelers website and mobile app, the Mike Tomlin Show, Steelers Game Day Pregame Radio and the Steelers Huddle Show.
“Fantasy sports are an increasingly important part of the fan experience for Steelers fans,” said Ryan Huzjak, Director of Corporate Partnerships and Sales for the Steelers. “Our partnership with DraftKings will continue to provide many opportunities to Steelers Nation, and we are excited about moving forward in order to engage our fans with fantasy sports in unique ways.”
“From the Immaculate Reception and the Steel Curtain Defense to the Terrible Towels waved at every game, the Steelers are one of the most storied franchises in professional football with an extremely passionate fan base. In addition, the Steelers have a very forward-looking way of thinking about technology and partnerships,” said Paul Liberman, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of DraftKings. “The types of experiences that we have in the works as the result of this relationship will be truly innovative and benefit the fans in the stadium and at home.”
This is the third partnership DraftKings has signed with a professional football franchise; it announced a partnership with the New England Patriots in October, and a partnership with the Denver Broncos in November.
DraftKings offers contests for experts and casual players alike. The sponsorship comes as DraftKings’ winds down its Fantasy Football Millionaire series contest, in which it awarded $1 Million top prizes weekly beginning in October. The Fantasy Football Millionaire series is the largest promotion in history for daily fantasy sports and is part of DraftKings’ plan to award more than $100 million in collective prizes this NFL season. In addition to daily fantasy football, DraftKings also offers fantasy contests in major professional and college sports.
Launched in April 2012, Boston-based DraftKings, Inc. is the largest, U.S.-based online gaming destination where players engage in daily fantasy sports competitions across fantasy professional football, baseball, golf, basketball, hockey, soccer, and mixed martial arts, and college football and basketball. DraftKings offers free and pay contests every day that award cash prizes.
