Prospect Medical Holdings’ CEO Samuel S. Lee to Receive the Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Region’s Highest Award

LOS ANGELES--()--Samuel S. Lee, Chairman and CEO of Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc., is being honored tonight as a recipient of the Arthritis Foundation’s 2014 Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award. Lee will receive the award at the Foundation’s 29th annual Commitment to a Cure Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The other honorees are renowned rheumatologist E. Robert Harris, MD, and his wife, Delly Harris, RN, and Deen Castronovo, drummer and vocalist of the legendary rock band Journey, and his fiancée, Deidra.

“The Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award is the Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Region’s highest honor and recognizes individuals and organizations for their leadership and dedication to humanitarian causes,” said Manuel Loya, CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Region. “Sam Lee is being honored for his commitment to research and dedication to community health and wellness by improving quality and reducing costs of patient care.”

“I am both humbled and proud to have been chosen by the Arthritis Foundation to receive this award,” said Lee. “Finding a cure for arthritis is a very personal issue to me as I have a close family member who faces the daily challenges of rheumatoid arthritis. As CEO of Prospect Medical Holdings, I am also proud of the excellent care offered by our dedicated physicians, nurses and hospital staff who provide the support needed to help improve the quality of life for patients with chronic diseases such as arthritis.”

Mitchell Lew, MD, CEO of Prospect Medical Systems, a subsidiary of Prospect Medical Holdings, noted Lee’s role in overseeing the company’s rapid growth as a healthcare innovator. “Sam is a committed, thoughtful healthcare leader with a singular vision for meeting the challenges of healthcare delivery,” Dr. Lew said. “As CEO of Prospect Medical Holdings, Sam has put this vision into practice. Prospect’s unique healthcare delivery model, called Coordinated-Regional-Care, focuses on making sure our patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place – whether it’s in a hospital, an outpatient clinic, a doctor’s office or even in their own home. The result is better quality of care at lower cost.”

David Topper, President of Alta Hospitals System, a subsidiary of Prospect Medical Holdings, co-founded Alta with Lee in 1998. “Sam has been my partner for nearly 16 years, and this recognition by the Arthritis Foundation is very fitting because Sam and Prospect both share the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing community health and wellness,” Topper said.
