Amasia Entertainment and American Films, Inc. Announce Agreement for Gary Whitta’s Screenplay Reaper

The Production Team Congratulates Whitta as Newly Selected Screenplay Writer for Star Wars Project

LOS ANGELES & NAPLES, Fla. & BOSTON--()--Amasia Entertainment and American Films, Inc. (Pink Sheets: AMFL) have signed an agreement and are joining forces to bring American Films’ flagship screenplay Reaper to the big screen. Reaper is written by Gary Whitta, the acclaimed screenplay writer of Book of Eli (Denzel Washington), who was recently engaged to write a new Star Wars film project.

American Films Executive Producer Lynne Murphy welcomes Amasia producers Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant (producers of The Call) to the project.

Producing on behalf of American Films are Stewart Hall and Devin Cutler, noted for their production of the Academy Award winning Monster. Joining them is Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert, executive producer of The Walking Dead and producer of American Ultra. Lotus Entertainment is attached to handle foreign sales.

Reaper is the stylish, neo-noir story of Virgil, a private investigator searching for his kidnapped daughter. The hauntingly beautiful and mysterious Delia recruits him to a surreal underworld where the boundaries between life and death become blurred.

Gary Whitta said, "I'm so thrilled to see Reaper back on a track toward production with an exciting producing team that truly believes in the project."

“Sometimes the stars align,” said Executive Producer Lynne Murphy. “Bringing together a Gary Whitta screenplay with all of these accomplished producers is one of those times. We will be able to position Reaper as a successful motion picture franchise for the foreseeable future.”

Hall and Cutler said, “Seeing Reaper’s words come off the page and onto the big screen will give us the greatest satisfaction we can possibly feel as producers.”

Circle of Confusion David Alpert commented, "Reaper has been a passion project for me for well over a decade. I can't wait to finally breathe life into this with such a great group of partners."

Amasia’s Gallo and Helfant added, “We read the script and immediately responded. It’s a project that producers dream about – a commercial franchise that is incredibly well written with intricate characters and intense suspense. We are excited to jump in.”
