Metamucil and Tony Danza Announce Top 8 Finalists in “Do More Than You Think” Contest

Voting period commences in search for health and wellness charity to receive $100,000 donation

CINCINNATI--()--Metamucil is asking Americans to help them select one charity to win a $100,000 donation as part of the “Do More Than You Think” contest. Last fall, Metamucil teamed up with Tony Danza to launch the contest and inspire Americans to Do More—get healthy and help others do the same. Nearly 1,500 entries were received and now it’s up to America to choose a winner from the top eight finalists.

As someone who makes healthy living and philanthropy a part of his life, long-time Metamucil user, iconic television, stage and screen actor, Tony Danza knows the importance of giving back.

“It was great to see so many Americans nominate their favorite health and wellness organizations that are doing more to encourage healthy living in their communities,” said Danza. “I’m a big believer in the motto of America: 'E pluribus unum' – 'Out of many, one' – or as my dad would say, 'We’re all in this together, pal.'”

“I am excited to see which organization voters choose for the $100,000 donation,” he continued.

Among the top eight finalists are:

  • Compass, Inc.
  • Food Bank of Southern Iowa
  • HealthPartners, Inc.
  • Heartland Borderwalk Foundation
  • The LAM Foundation
  • MOMobile Dignity Health
  • Patient AirLift Services
  • Turnstone Center for Adults and Children with Disabilities

Voting for the “Do More Than You Think” contest opened to the public on February 14, 2014 and will run through March 14, 2014. Metamucil will announce the winning charity in March 2014.
