PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chemtura Corporation (NYSE: CHMT) (Euronext: CHMT) has announced that its new, broad-spectrum insecticide DoubleTake™ has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
“DoubleTake™ insecticide will be a powerful protective force for growers,” said Don Guy, Chemtura AgroSolutions marketing manager, Ag Chemicals Division. “Using multiple modes of action through both insect neurotoxic and insect growth regulator effects, DoubleTake™ features superior knockdown and lasting residual control of insect pests in soybean, peanut, cotton and pepper crops.”
Additional crops and country registrations are expected to follow.
As a cornerstone product for Chemtura AgroSolutions’ product pipeline, DoubleTake™ is an innovative blend of two existing molecules that extends the life cycle of a key proprietary product, diflubenzuron. “By combining key performance strengths of diflubenzuron with another active ingredient with a different mode of action, we created a product that differentiates itself in the marketplace,” Guy said. Guy added that the concept itself could be adaptable to other Chemtura proprietary products, thereby creating new value-added products from Chemtura AgroSolutions’ existing proprietary product portfolio.
DoubleTake™ offers long-lasting residual protection and controls all stages of insect life, from eggs to adults, especially against two fast-emerging pests – the brown marmorated stink bug, which is becoming a challenge for soybean farmers in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Eastern regions, and the kudzu bug, a rapidly growing concern for soybean farmers in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Mid-South regions. Field trials also show yield enhancements are possible when DoubleTake™ is applied to peanut and soybean crops.
