Diesel Direct Moves Enterprise IT Systems to the Cloud With Virtustream

Leading Mobile Refueling Service Company Deploys Its Infrastructure on Virtustream xStream to Improve Agility, Performance and Availability of Critical IT Applications

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Virtustream, Inc., a leading cloud solutions provider, today announced that Diesel Direct, Inc., a leading national supplier of on-site diesel mobile refueling, has deployed its IT infrastructure on Virtustream’s enterprise cloud platform, xStream. To address significant business growth and increased customer demand, Diesel Direct migrated its critical IT systems, including proprietary business management systems and client-facing management and reporting tools to xStream to improve agility, enhance business continuity and address increasingly challenging compliance requirements.

Diesel Direct is the transportation industry’s largest dedicated national mobile refueling company, servicing thousands of trucks each day from its fleet of customized fueling trucks. The company leverages state-of-the-art business management technology and IT systems that are customized to meet the stringent regulatory, environmental and compliance standards of the fuel industry, including complex tax reporting. Diesel Direct supports their clients with management and reporting systems built on Microsoft technology for access to accurate and meaningful data to assist in the management of fuel consumption, SARBOX compliance reporting and a matrix billing system for clients with multiple locations and assets that move between those locations.

Diesel Direct selected Virtustream xStream to host its Business Management and IT systems as the cloud platform delivers a robust, secure cloud environment that was built from the ground-up to support complex enterprise applications. xStream is the industry's first cloud solution to use a ‘Micro-virtual machine,’ providing efficiency significantly beyond traditional virtualization and enabling a truly consumption based pricing model.

“Having outgrown our existing systems footprint, our compute performance suffered and slowed our ability to provide the critical information clients required and that we need to run our day to day operations,” said Dan Abrams, president and CEO of Diesel Direct. “Moving critical IT applications to the cloud delivered the performance, scale and stability that we needed. Virtustream has been a true partner through the migration process, and we were as impressed by the speed and ease of onboarding as we are with the solution itself.

To streamline the onboarding process, Virtustream performed a thorough assessment of the Diesel Direct IT environment, stabilized its applications and optimized them for performance in a cloud environment. The Virtustream cloud platform offers guarantees for Diesel Direct compute resources, data protection, disaster recovery and industry leading application-level SLAs to meet the stringent needs of a sophisticated, industry-leading enterprise.

“Many enterprises understand the scalability, availability and IT performance improvements that the cloud could deliver, but are skeptical of security and downtime, especially when moving enterprise apps off-premise,” said Bill McNamara, market development officer, Virtustream. “Our solution architects worked closely with Diesel Direct to ensure its infrastructure and critical IT systems were cloud-ready, which made the migration extremely successful for the company’s complex compute topography.”
