Elizabeth Maringer, Former High-Ranking Southern District of New York Federal Prosecutor, Joins Stroz Friedberg’s Business Intelligence & Investigations Division in New Leadership Role

Maringer, former Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, to advance Stroz Friedberg’s traditional investigations practice in new post

NEW YORK--()--Stroz Friedberg, a global digital risk management and investigations firm, today announced that Managing Director Elizabeth F. Maringer has been appointed Co-Head of the firm’s global Business Intelligence and Investigations (BI&I) Division.

Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Ms. Maringer spent over twelve years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, most recently serving as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division from 2008 until 2011. Leveraging her exceptional investigative and prosecutorial experience, she advises clients facing regulatory inquiries and directs complex investigations on behalf of law firms, private and public corporations, private equity firms, and hedge funds. Ms. Maringer also consults with clients seeking to develop or enhance existing compliance programs and is highly qualified to serve as a trusted and neutral court-appointed monitor.

“We are very proud to have Elizabeth with us,” said Edward M. Stroz, Co-President of Stroz Friedberg. “She brings invaluable experience in the investigation and prosecution of large, complex criminal matters -- which will greatly enhance our service offerings. Under her leadership, our multi-disciplinary investigative team of attorneys, forensic accountants, anti-money laundering specialists, certified fraud examiners, digital forensic examiners, and security risk consultants will continue to grow and provide our clients with the highest standard of service. We are thrilled to have someone of her caliber to take our BI&I platform to the next level.”

In her new role, Ms. Maringer will direct a wide range of investigations focusing on matters such as corporate fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, theft of intellectual property, employee misconduct, computer forensics, and cybercrime. “In this age of increasing government regulation and white collar criminal enforcement, Stroz Friedberg is uniquely positioned to provide clients with cutting-edge technology combined with deep investigative experience. Stroz Friedberg leads the way in expert digital forensics, and our ability to leverage this expertise to enhance traditional investigations distinguishes us in the market. I firmly believe that the need for the services we offer is expanding exponentially, and it is exciting to be part of a firm that brings this level of skill and talent to each engagement,” said Ms. Maringer.

Ms. Maringer joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 1999, and served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the General Crimes, Narcotics, and Violent Crimes Units before becoming Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division. She has represented the United States in numerous criminal prosecutions at both the trial and appellate level, and her tireless investigative skills have led to the dismantling of many large-scale criminal enterprises. From 1996 to 1999, Ms. Maringer was an associate in the litigation department at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Prior to joining Paul Weiss, Ms. Maringer served as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert J. Ward, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Ms. Maringer received her B.A. from Dartmouth College. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Fordham Law School. Ms. Maringer is also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School, where she teaches a seminar on all aspects of investigating and prosecuting federal crimes.
