Engadget Chinese Launches New Editorial Team, with Richard Lai, Associate Editor at Engadget, Appointed Editor-in-Chief

NEW YORK--()--Engadget Chinese (http://chinese.engadget.com, http://cn.engadget.com), a leading source of technology and consumer electronics news, opinion, and video, today announced a freshly revamped editorial team, including the appointment of Richard Lai, Associate Editor at Engadget, as Editor-in-Chief. The announcement was made by Joshua Fruhlinger, Editorial Director, AOL Tech.

“I’m excited to announce that Engadget has built a dynamic and savvy editorial team that will bring intelligence and passion to covering the full gamut of tech and gadget news,” said Fruhlinger. “Our audience can look forward to an irreverent, unpredictable and engaging take on the world of gadgets and technology, and we’re intent on continuing to deploy our team across multimedia channels – particularly video – which has become increasingly ubiquitous across Engadget sites.”

Said Richard Lai: "I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to help take Engadget Chinese to the next level. We’ll be delivering even faster and more relevant news for our Chinese readers across the world, particularly in mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Readers can expect more localized features that will offer detailed and unbiased advice on choosing the right gadgets, as well as provide insight into the cultures of each regional market."

Engadget Chinese delivers an incisive mix of news, commentary and analysis aimed at helping users throughout Asia stay abreast of the fast-changing fields of technology and gadgets. The new Engadget Chinese editorial team and contributors bring a wealth of experience plus expertise. They include:

Stone Ip, Associate Editor (stone.ip@engadget.com) -- Ip is a founding member of Engadget Chinese's Hong Kong team since 2008. His computer industry expertise enables him to provide users with a depth of analysis when it comes to purchasing decisions. During his spare time, Ip also writes about local pop culture and travelling.

Danny Mak, Mobile Editor (danny.mak@engadget.com) -- Mak started building up his wealth of mobile phone knowledge as early as 1998, when he convinced his family to go for the Ericsson PF768 instead of a pager. Since then, Danny's written about various platforms for a number of tech publications in Hong Kong, as well as publishing his own book about Android. Despite the flood of new smartphones, Mak also frequents local marketplaces to collect classic handsets.

Marco So, Contributing Editor (marco.so@engadget.com) -- So is one of the few writers in the team who can fly a real plane. When on ground level, So struggles to resist the temptation to check out the gadget shops in Hong Kong. Engadget Chinese readers will be seeing a great deal of news coverage by So, along with the occasional features covering aviation technologies.

Chloe Wan, Reviews Editor (chloe.wan@engadget.com) -- Wan picked up photography when she purchased her first digital camera in high school, and has since gained a diploma in digital imaging and video. Joining Engadget Chinese's Hong Kong team, Wan will continue to focus on cameras and photography.
