McKesson Medical-Surgical Announces New President

Stanton McComb Appointed President of McKesson’s Alternate Site Medical Distribution Business

SAN FRANCISCO--()--McKesson Medical-Surgical announced today that Stanton McComb has been appointed president effective April 1, 2011. Currently the president of McKesson Automation Inc. (MAI), the market leader for pharmacy automation solutions, McComb will succeed Brian Tyler, who was recently appointed president of McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical.

McComb will oversee McKesson’s medical-surgical distribution business that delivers a comprehensive offering of medical-surgical supplies, medical equipment and health care technology-related services to the alternate site market, including physician offices, surgery centers, long-term care facilities and home care businesses throughout the US. McComb will report to Paul Julian, executive vice president and group president, McKesson Corporation.

McComb is a 9-year veteran of McKesson, starting his career in 2002 on the corporate strategy and business development team. He was promoted to president, McKesson Pharmacy Systems in 2004 where he played a central role in McKesson’s acquisition and integration of Per-Se Technology in 2006. He later gained responsibility for the merged pharmacy systems business and in 2009 was appointed president of McKesson’s retail Pharmacy Systems & Automation business.

Prior to joining McKesson, McComb worked for Citigroup’s Investments Technology Group where he made and managed a portfolio of later stage venture capital investments in the medical device and healthcare technology sector. He began his career at the Health Care Advisory Board, a for-profit research and consulting company based in Washington, DC.

McComb earned his BA in Political Science and Business from Villanova University in 1992. He then served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer for 2 years in West Africa. McComb earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern in 1999.
