Mountain Lake Resources Strengthens Team with New Exploration Manager

Paul Smith’s immediate focus will be the exploration and resource confirmation effort on the Company’s 100% owned Glover Island Gold Project

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia--()--Mountain Lake Resources Inc. (TSX-V: MOA) (“Mountain Lake” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul K. Smith as Exploration Manager, effective immediately.

Paul spent the past 2½ years with Acadian Mining, most recently as Vice President - Field Operations, Compliance and Permitting. Prior to joining Acadian Paul spent 33 years with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources as a senior research Gold Geologist for the Mineral Resources Section and finally two years as Liaison Geologist for the Mineral Resources Branch at the department before retiring from the provincial government in 2008.

Graduating from Acadia University in 1973 with a BSc in geology, Paul worked briefly for Barrymin Exploration in Quebec before returning to Acadia to complete an MSc on structural geology in 1976. After joining the provincial government in 1975 and following work on a number of stratigraphic, structural, tectonic and geochemical projects, Paul convinced the Department of Mines to start a gold research program, which continued until his departure.

Paul is currently President of the Mining Association of Nova Scotia, Vice President District 1 of the Canadian Institute of Mining and past President of the Mining Society of Nova Scotia. He has travelled extensively throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand to deliver scientific presentations and to collaborate with foreign colleagues.

Mountain Lake President and CEO Gary Woods commented, “We are thrilled that Paul has agreed to join the Mountain Lake team. His unique skill set, coupling both public and private sector experience, and strong communication skills will be instrumental in the advancement, management and presentation of our projects during this rapid growth phase.”

Paul’s immediate focus for Mountain Lake will be the Glover Island Gold Project in west-central Newfoundland. The Company acquired a 100% interest in the Glover Island Property in October 2010 and Paul will be responsible for the upcoming exploration and resource confirmation effort to bring the historical resources on the Property in to National Instrument 43-101 compliance.

The Property is host to several significant gold prospects over an 11 km strike length. Almost all of the drilling, with the exception of 8 drill holes in 2003, took place before 1994 and prior to NI 43-101 regulations. Significant drill intercepts include 16.7 m of 5.31 g/t Au at the LPSE Prospect, 10 m of 4.93 g/t Au at Kettle Pond South, and 8.0 m of 10.18 g/t Au at the Lucky Smoke deposit. Mountain Lake’s goals for 2011 are to expand and upgrade the historical resources to NI 43-101 compliance standards, and drill additional prospects on the Property.

Gary Woods, P.Geo., is the Qualified Person on the Glover Island Property, and has reviewed and verified the contents of this news release.
