COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nationwide Insurance, the company that created the insurance industry’s first mobile auto insurance claims app, has introduced enhanced offerings for consumers using mobile devices. The Nationwide® Mobile app for iPhone ® and iPod touch® is now available for Android TM users, and a new and improved mobile Web site will make interaction with Nationwide easier on any mobile platform.
Nationwide Mobile, which provides a tool kit for customers to use following a car accident as well as access to their Nationwide account information, will be available for Android users beginning this month. This popular app has been downloaded more than 100,000 times by iPhone and iPod touch owners and has been used by more than 500 customers to begin the insurance claims process after a car accident.
Additionally, Nationwide has enhanced its mobile web site, m.nationwide.com, to make interacting with the company through any mobile device easier.
“The Nationwide Mobile App for iPhone and iPod touch has been really successful and generated a lot of buzz,” said Dennis Giglio, associate vice president of Digital Marketing for Nationwide. “We wanted to build on this success by expanding the reach of our mobile capabilities to a wider range of customers by adding an Android app and improving our mobile website."
In late 2009, Nationwide launched its second mobile app, Cartopia, which was designed to provide useful information to mobile users shopping for a car. Despite a significant number of downloads, Nationwide has retired Cartopia. The company’s mobile strategy moving forward will involve enhancing Nationwide Mobile and m.nationwide.com as opposed to asking customers to maintain multiple Nationwide apps. Some of Cartopia’s features may be integrated into Nationwide Mobile in the future.
