PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Authentium, Inc., a developer of security software and services, today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Command antivirus to Commtouch® (Nasdaq: CTCH). The purchase price for the assets is approximately $4.6 million, plus an additional “earnout,” which may bring the total amount to approximately $8 million.
The asset sale reflects Authentium’s plans to focus on its successful SafeCentral business moving forward. SafeCentral has both corporate and consumer editions.
“SafeCentral is leading an emerging category of security that focuses on a layer of protection around the web session itself,” says Doug Brunt, President and CEO of Authentium. “SafeCentral provides identity theft protection for consumers and protects ‘data in use’ for corporate customers. We offer the most robust protection available for the use and electronic transfer of sensitive information online. In addition, SafeCentral can also be used to augment cybersecurity solutions for government applications. As a result of our transaction with Commtouch, we’ll be able to focus our resources and time on further developing and expanding SafeCentral.”
SafeCentral is available to consumers through various ISP partnerships as well as through a partnership with Trend Micro. SafeCentral protects consumers from identity theft by blocking keyloggers, screen stealers and DNS redirection attacks, keeping them safe from attacks on their most sensitive financial information when they are banking or shopping online.
The SafeCentral corporate edition is a critical layer of protection for business use of web-based SaaS applications, remote desktop, and mobile workforce computing.
